Pulau Ubin is the last Kampong (village) in Singapore. A good place to see nature and rustic houses, Pulau Ubin caters to those who seek a more relaxing time than the usual fast-paced city life. It’s an island located near Changi. To go there, we had to ride a ferry/bumboat at Changi Point Ferry Terminal, which costs SGD 2.50 one way, and takes around 20-30 minutes to arrive.
Exploring the whole of Pulau Ubin requires strength of will and body. You can either go around by foot, or by renting a bike. We chose the latter, as it seemed more fun and exciting – offroad biking! Pulau Ubin also houses the Chek Jawa Wetlands, which is home to a large number of species – one of the richest ecosystems in Singapore.
It’s actually a nice place to take pictures. You can even do your pre-nuptial photos there! If you want to get married there, you may also do so, at the brick house at the edge of Chek Jawa. The location is surrounded by a cool sea breeze, with some pine trees and a good view of the jetty by the waters.
